Peter Thurley grew up on the west coast of Canada in the town of Abbotsford, B.C. Leaving the natural beauty of British Columbia for southwestern Ontario charm, Peter obtained his M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Waterloo in 2008. That same year Peter married his wife Shandi and, together with their Jack Russell, Dolly, their lovable cat Miss Greyjoy Kush, and a Bearded Dragon named Poochie, they call Kitchener home.
For a decade now, Peter has offered his services as a communications guru, writer and fundraiser, serving on staff and as director at a number of non-profits in Ontario. A community-based activist named one of the Waterloo Region’s Top 40 Under 40 when he was only 28, Peter carries the unique perspective and adaptability of a former federal political candidate and two-time campaign manager. After becoming deathly ill in 2015, Peter turned to cannabis to provide him with necessary relief from the resulting neuropathic pain, and now focuses his time on cannabis-based advocacy and industry participation. Peter specializes in high quality writing services and has experience producing and ghostwriting alternative annual reports, fundraising letters, print and online marketing content including blog writing, social media strategies and opinion-editorials.
In addition to producing written communications pieces for clients, Peter is a blogger and writer. Not afraid to tackle controversial issues from a progressive perspective, Peter writes about Canadian politics, faith and social justice, health care and travel. When he’s not writing, Peter loves to road trip, take hikes with Dolly and Shandi, listen to heavy metal and read The Atlantic.
